About us

Our Kids Media is a family owned and operated publishing company with five print brands and more than 20 digital properties. Both our consumer and industry magazines and online portals enhance the personal and professional lives of millions of Canadians every year.

Professional photography along with articles and stories by experts and leading journalists fill our print and online pages with engaging and helpful information: delivered at home, online and via face-to-face consumer shows.

The brainchild of award-winning Toronto Star photographer Andrew Stawicki in collaboration with Toronto Star photo editor Peter Robertson, along with their wives Margaret Stawicki and Michelle Robertson launched the first of their publications, Our Kids Go To Camp in 1997. The idea arose because as parents, they were looking to provide the best opportunities for their children and did not know where to start.

The company grew as more and more families were looking for help to guide them through important decisions they were facing. Working closely with both readers and industry experts, a total of three consumer magazines and two business journals were developed.

In 2000, with the growth of the Internet, Our Kids Media launched complementary websites for each of their print magazines, to extend information for Canadians searching online. Each year, new portals and elements are added to enhance the user experience with community and social media networks.

In 2002, Our Kids Media branched out from publishing to provide readers with the opportunity to speak with private and independent school experts face-to-face. The Our Kids Private School Expo is now held annually in Montreal, Oakville, Toronto and Vancouver. The events remain to be Canada’s largest and best-attended education events, providing the ideal environment for parents searching for an alternative education.

Our mission

Our mission as a company is to provide the most current resources to:

  1. Help families navigate the vast array of options: whether it’s summer camps, private schools or retirement communities, to make the best choice for each individual’s needs.
  2. Enhance communication between Canadian professionals working in the two sectors: child development and education; retirement living and care, and provide professional development support and collaboration for individuals and associations.
