We’ve launched a new photo essay to communicate some of the value associated with the overnight camp experience. Activities are important, though, as we profiled in our last print guide, they’re a means of developing other things, including character, leadership, confidence, grit, and belonging. As in the photo essay we launched earlier this year, “The Overnight Camp Experience, A to Z,” we drew on our archive of images, accrued over two decades of working with camps and photographers, to communicate some important ideas. In this latest one, “7 ways summer camp will change you,” we continued that theme, using some classic images to communicate ideas around independence, confidence, relationships, and physical and mental health. As we move ahead into summer 2022, those are the kinds of messages we’ll work to deliver, particularly given that so many kids will be returning to the camp experience for the first time in two years.

Overnight Camps

So, yes, it’s important. This latest is also unique in that it speaks directly to campers, rather than parents or families. It was showcased to thousands of families on OurKids.net and Camps.ca through our e-newsletter (to 40,000 opt-in subscribers) and a comprehensive social media campaign. We hope you will consider using these messages within your communication programs. Make the photo essays your own, share with your camper and parent community, and embed on your website to show families the incredible opportunities that overnight camps offer. Together, we'll continue to shed light on some of the magic, emotion, and one-of-a-kind experiences that overnight camp offers.
