When families look into potential camps and programs, they crave perspectives from multiple stakeholders.

One important group that they often don’t have a chance to interact with is the parents of campers and alumni. These parents can shed light on the process of choosing programs through their own personal experience.

Another important group is the camp and program directors. These individuals carry the vision or “soul” of what makes each program unique. Listening to them gives families a greater understanding of their philosophy, which helps them make their final decisions.

Understanding all this, we launched our Insider’s Perspective video series, where we invite parents and directors to answer a series of carefully selected questions. This is an ongoing project, and we’re looking to add more voices including current and past campers and students.

We’re very pleased to announce our new partnership with ASAP, The Association for Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment.

ASAP has a vital mission: to prevent sexual abuse, in camps and elsewhere, and provide support for those who have been abused. Its online training program, used by hundreds of camps across North America, enables administrators, counsellors, and staff to implement safety protocols easily and efficiently. ASAP also provides camp officials with clear standards of conduct and educates them about proper boundaries for behaviour. The outcome is invaluable: Camps will be able to confidently prevent inappropriate behaviour and address uncomfortable issues when they arise.

What’s more, ASAP trains camp staff to detect when sexual abuse might have occurred. Staff learn to identify kids who have been sexually abused and may be struggling. They learn how to speak with these kids, support them, and get them the professional help they need.

ASAP is an exemplary humanitarian organization. Through our partnership, we hope to strengthen its ability to prevent and treat sexual abuse in camps. To encourage our camp and program members to join this mission, we’re pleased to offer you a 20% discount on ASAP training courses until March 31, 2023. If this interests you, click here to get more information and an ASAP representative will reach out to explain how the registration process works. Keep in mind that you can access the materials before you pay, so you know exactly what you’re getting. Ask your ASAP camp consultant to send you more information before you decide.
