25th annual Canada’s Private School Guide

The 25th annual Canada’s Private School Guide was distributed this month in the Vancouver Sun, the Calgary Herald, the Toronto Star, and the Globe and Mail, reaching over 140,000 families who are interested in private and independent schools.

Families continue to rely on Our Kids as their go-to advisor. To cement their trust, we’ve updated our guides with the latest information. Families who are prepared and well-informed, in turn, are more likely to appreciate whether and how your school matches their requirements.

Updated guides include:

  • “Five steps to a more informed school choice” offers a step-by-step approach to the process of selecting a school, which ensures families arrive at your school prepared, with the right questions, and mindful of how enrolment at your school would align with their own values and priorities.

  • “Why families turn to private school” explores the reasons why parents are increasingly opting for private education: enriched academic programs, personalised attention, emphasis on well-rounded personal growth, and more.

  • “Paying for private school” provides an overview of the financial side of private education. Pointing out the variations in school tuition, and financial aid, helps parents prioritise schools that can accommodate their financial situation.

  • “Types of school” provides a comprehensive view of educational models, considering factors like living arrangements, gender focus, curriculum styles, school size, and specialised support. This helps families better understand what you offer, and reach out to you from a place of genuine appreciation.

  • "Advice and insights on choosing the right school” includes a set of heuristics for parents evaluating schools. When parents know what to look for and what to avoid, it makes the enrolment process smoother for both parties.

Close Integration with OurKids.net

We’ve further integrated the School Guide with the tools and resources of OurKids.net to give families an in-depth view of their prospective schools. With User Account, updated School Reports, Insider Perspective videos, and more, families will form a detailed view of their prospective schools, guides on admission steps, and third-party perspectives from students, parents, educators, and experts.

How this Our Kids partner gives second life to discarded uniforms

When schools rebrand, what becomes of the old uniforms? Often, they're simply discarded—creating unnecessary waste. But not with InSchoolWear (ISW). They stand firm with their "zero to landfill" ethos, making sure these uniforms find a second life and benefit those in need.

For over 25 years, ISW has partnered with Faith's Orphanage Fund in Zambia and Brands for Canada. Remarkably, as ISW donated uniforms to Zambia, a new policy mandated school uniforms in this African country—making their contribution invaluable. Closer to home, Brands for Canada repurposes crested uniforms, supporting diverse communities—from abused women and children to jobseekers—granting second chances to both uniforms and those in need.

Take a look at InSchoolWear’s mission and see their tangible efforts towards sustainability.
